Catch up on 2015 films for your end of the year lists or keep binging on Making a Murderer. There's nothing really else to recommend.

Nothing!
And that about wraps up the year and also this ongoing feature. Since starting this endeavor, several things have happened that have hampered the fun factor for this weekly feature: the dissolve of The Dissolve (including my regular spot in the comments) and how Netflix has helped make it much more difficult to find streaming notices on their website. The company now seems to control the information more and more, as their monthly lists of new and expiring streaming titles are given out to online journalists for publication. So for now on, just keep checking out Instant Watcher. See you later!

What to Watch This Week
Making a Murderer isn't exactly well suited for the holiday season but it is Netflix's answer to HBO's The Jinx. The documentary miniseries chronicles how a lowly man was jailed for a murder he didn't commit, freed 18 year later thanks to DNA evidence and right when he was about to sue the state, he's arrested for another murder. Cover-up by corrupt officials or did he really do it this time? Find out. Also available today is one of dumbest Christian releases this year: Little Boy.

My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Friendship Games will have the fans continuing to lament this spinoff series; the return of Upside Down, one of strangest good bad movies in recent times; the boring adaptation of a trashy bestseller, Valley of the Dolls; one of the best feel-good sports film devoted to female athletes, A League Of Their Own; and Stanley Kubrick's last film Eyes Wide Shut.

What to Watch This Week
I have been waiting for a long, long time to see Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story Of Cannon Films. It's already out on video but it being on Netflix is a perfect fit for it, as many would likely take a gander and/or have a laugh with its journey through 80's movie-mania. And if you have three hours to spare and want to see one of the most popular Bollywood movies of all time, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is where it's at.

Disturbing feminist art indie Felt; claymation brings to life one of the absurdist Israel-Palestine disputes in The Wanted 18; a certain famed Swish artist is profiled in Dark Star: H.R. Two big Netflix exclusives, the first being W/ Bob and David, which reunites former Mr. Show creators Bob Odenkirk and David Cross. Hopefully, it feels good. The other is John Mulaney: The Comeback Kid, the first live special from the former comedic wunderkind after his infamous sitcom attempt. Judging from the early material, it looks to be a winner.

What to Watch This Week
I adore Aziz Ansari from his stand-up comedy and role as Tom Haverford on Parks and Recreations. Master Of None is his attempt to follow in the footsteps of Louis C.K. and create/star in his own series. Semi-based on his life (his real parents play his character's elders), the work looks to be a real treat.
New Streaming Titles I Previously Forgot to Mention
The controversial voodoo mystery Angel Heart; mutated bees attack people in the horror-comedy Stung; the Knight and Day that we deserved to have but with Bollywood stars, Bang Bang; awful Stephen King film that sadly has stuck with me, Thinner; Roy Andersson returned this year with A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence, another one of his Swedish absurdist comedies; the return of British cult series Black Books; and Netflix's experimentation with their "5 Minute Favorite" line, bite-sized episodes of their kids shows designed to please parents and cut down on kids who want to watch one more before going to bed.

What to Watch This Week
Last Days In Vietnam sneaked under the radar last year and was heralded by critics as one of the best docs of 2014. Its eventual PBS airing and earning an Oscar nomination this year helped bring a lot of attention to it and now Netflix offers it up to you. I will also throw in Popples in here as well. Now look, I know this will most likely be crap but I loved these guys when I was a wee lad. Gritting my teeth through the first episode will leave me and others somewhat satisfied.

What to Watch This Week
This week is riddled with badly received 2015 films (though I did hear a few good things for Mansion Family Vacation) and the final season to a Netflix original series everybody wants to avoid binging on. The sole worthwhile title looks to be Walt Disney Animation Studios Short Films Collection, simply because many of the acclaimed shorts are great ("Paperman" being the best) and you get to feed your kids "Frozen Fever" on the go.

What to Watch This Week
Nothing! None of the known titles coming to the platform this next week are really worthy of your time. I may check out Tremors 5: Bloodline due to my love for the horror-comedy franchise but that is plagued by the sheer presence of Jaime Kennedy. Yuck!
New Streaming Titles I Previously Forgot to Mention
Some Came Running, an underrated classic starring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Shirley MacLaine in her first Oscar-nominated role; Sam Peckingpah's bloody western The Wild Bunch; Paul Thomas Anderson most popular film with audiences, Boogie Nights; the horror reboot to everyone's favorite plastic serial killer (and perfectly timed for Halloween season), Curse of Chucky; and the most egregious passion project of 2015, the FIFA back-patting United Passions.

What to Watch This Week
Today premieres one of the most acclaimed foreign films of the year despite it being six years old. About Elly was directed by Asghar Farhadi and premiered at film festivals in 2009, two years before his breakout film A Separation. Clearly inspired by the works of Michelangelo Antonioni, the psychological drama is about a group of friends that have a brief vacation at a beach house, only for the mysterious titled character to suddenly disappear. Art film fans can continue their joy come Wednesday when Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom comes to the platform, six days before its Criterion Collection home video release. The streaming title may not come with special features attached but the movie is naturally beautiful to look at and possesses a fun fairy tale atmosphere. And returning to Netflix is The Bank Job, the underrated crime thriller starring Jason Statham.

What to Watch This Week
There are probably some titles coming out during the weekend that I am not aware of but the true titles to watch to watch come out towards the end of the week. Foreign and art film fans get to enjoy the French rom-com Love At First Fight, aka Les Combattants, kids will freely abuse Teen Beach 2 to watch the favorite songs again and again, and your mom and dad can enjoy the Netflix exclusive 4th season of Longmire.

10/16 - Beasts Of No Nation
11/6 - Master Of None (Netflix Original Series)
12/11 - The Ridiculous Six
What to Watch This Week
Narcos is the latest Netflix exclusive show and takes a close dramatic look at the lifestyle and criminal antics of former drug kingpin Pablo Escobar. Kids, on the other hand, have the worst luck today: the decision between the not-requested second season to Netflix's ill-conceived Inspector Gadget or the commercially successful but heavily ridiculed 2014 reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Of the two, I rather go with a movie that would be perfect for a bad movie party than a show that is utterly boring.

What to Watch This Week
Again, we have a very slim, very paltry week of new titles. Is this a sign of things to come? From the four titles that I'm aware of, I'll go with the Cannes curiosity piece White God. The foreign movie has a huge cast of canines and uses the furry animals as a metaphor for Europe's on-going issues with racism. Not for everyone (expect some dogs to be killed of) but worthy enough to take a glance.
