Trailer Review - Interstellar

Interstellar
1st Trailer
Watch It Here

Person of Interest: Matthew McConaughey as engineer-turned-farmer-turned-astronaut Cooper, Mackenzie Foy as young Murphy, Jessica Chastain as adult Murphy, Timothée Chalamet as McConaughey's son, Michael Caine as a space scientist, and cameos of Anne Hathaway, Wes Bentley, John Lithgow, and David Oyelowo.

Scene Pop: Obviously the 2001-like imagery at the end but I was more moved by Hans Zimmer's score.

Briggs Breakdown: Nothing really to add here.

Effective?: I would say Yes. It tells us the central conflict but keeps the space adventure firmly ambiguous.

Check it Out?: Yes. It's a new Nolan adventure so of course it will be a major event. Expect it to be a sad one, as the science of space travel will surely be shown and lead to some depressing moments. However, the last time I was excited for a sci-fi movie that rolled around in the dirt with bluesy middle America and was distributed by Warner Bros, it was called Man of Steel. Fingers cross.
