Trailer Review - Left Behind (2014)

Left Behind
1st Teaser Trailer
Watch It Here

Person of Interest: Nicolas Cage as the new Kirk Cameron, Chad Michael Murray as the new Brad Johnson, and Cassi Thomson as Murray's hysteric wife/girlfriend.

Scene Pop: Nothing.

Briggs Breakdown: 3 mentions of God, 2 propulsions of glass, a near-miss airplane collision, a plane sodomizing a car, a fallen tree, a woman running near random explosions, and a reimagining of that dreadful scene in Man of Steel.

Effective?: No. The trailer is poorly put together and makes the film look an even worst version of The Langoliers. The "rapture" is a joke, just a bunch of quick cuts, white flashes, and the camera tilting up and down. There's a shot where a book is thrown through a weak-ass window and two cuts later, the glass appears to shoot in front of the character who threw it in a different scene. Also, a character was brought to Earth by God in order to come home? What the fuck does that even mean?

Check it Out?: Hell no. This looks to be another putrid Christian movie, nestled budget and talent-wise between Heaven Is For Real and God's Not Dead. Worst, it will surely spoil any chance for Nicolas Cage to be rewarded for his work in the critical acclaim Joe come next year's Oscars.
